Murray State's Payne, Prohm named OVC player, coach of year

Guard Cameron Payne of Murray State has been named the Ohio Valley Conference player of the year, and Steve Prohm is the league's coach of the year after leading the Racers to a perfect season and a Top 25 ranking.
The OVC announced their awards and all-league team Tuesday.
Payne averaged 20.2 points and 5.7 assists helping Murray State win its 24th OVC regular season title and first since 2012. With Prohm, the No. 25 Racers are the OVC's fifth team to go undefeated at 16-0 and first since Austin Peay in 2003-04.
Senior guard Corey Walden of Eastern Kentucky is the defensive player of the year averaging three steals per game.
Eastern Illinois' Cornell Johnston is the freshman of the year after averaging 52.2 percent shooting from 3-point range.
