Brian Qvale scored 21 points and Montana pulled away in the second half of a 71-52 victory over Idaho State on Wednesday night.

Mathias Ward added 13 points and Kareem Jamar had 11 for the Grizzlies (19-7, 11-3 Big Sky), who shot 61.9 percent in the second half when they extended a 10-point lead to as much as 24.

Broderick Gilchrest and Kenny McGowen each scored 13 points to lead the Bengals (8-17, 4-9), who had their two-game winning streak come to an end.

Montana took a 29-19 advantage into halftime and led by double digits the rest of the way. The Grizzlies opened the second half on a 9-0 run and later led 53-29 with 8:47 to play.

Montana held Idaho State to 32.8 percent shooting while making 56.1 percent of its shots overall.
