Missouri announces starting guard Wes Clark is off the team

Missouri announced on Tuesday that junior guard Wes Clark was dismissed from the program.
“Wes Clark had failed to meet the academic expectations of the Mizzou Athletics Department and is no longer a member of the men’s basketball program,” the Missouri statement said. “Due to this issue relating to academics, Mizzou Athletics will have no further comment.”
However, Clark took to Twitter on Tuesday, tweeting a 19-character message contradicting the university's press release.
Clark started all 25 games this season and was second on the team in scoring and assists, averaging 9.8 points and 3.0 assists per game.
Missouri is 9-16 (2-10 SEC) and in danger of finishing last in the conference standings for the second straight season.
