Ravern Johnson scored 20 points to lead Mississippi State to a 75-70 victory over South Carolina on Wednesday night. Tied at 65 with 2:15 left, Barry Stewart hit two free throws to give Mississippi State (17-9, 7-4 Southeastern Conference) the lead. After a Gamecocks turnover, Phil Turner hit a 3-pointer from the right corner to secure the victory, ending a two-game conference losing streak. South Carolina (18-6, 7-4) led 37-33 at the half, but the Bulldogs opened the second half on a 13-2 run and took the lead on a 3-pointer by Johnson early in the second half. Turner added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs and Dee Bost had 14 points. The Gamecocks missed all six of their first-half 3-pointers and their first seven field goals in the second half. Devan Downey led South Carolina with 19 points on 7-of-19 shooting.
