Miami guard Malcolm Grant, a preseason all-Atlantic Coast Conference pick, missed Thursday night's game against Charlotte for personal reasons.

Team officials said that Grant, the Hurricanes' leading scorer, flew home to New York earlier Thursday because of a death in his family. The officials offered no further details.

Grant, a third-team all-ACC selection last season, is leading the Hurricanes in scoring at 15.1 points per game.
