Diego Kapelan scored 20 points and P.J. Alawoya had a double-double to lead McNeese State to an 81-72 victory over Texas-Arlington on Wednesday night.
Alawoya had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the East-leading Cowboys (17-9, 9-4 Southland), who won their second in a row.
Patrick Richard hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 points, C.J. Collins contributed 14 points and Stephan Martin added 10 for McNeese State, which shot 49.1 percent (26 of 53) from the floor, 57.9 percent (11 of 19) from 3-point range and 81.8 percent (18 of 22) from the line.
Bo Ingram led the Mavericks (13-13, 7-6) with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Cameron Catlett added 15 points.
The Cowboys edged ahead 33-29 at halftime and never trailed after that, though the advantage did not reach double figures until the final six minutes.
