McNeese St. 100, Southwest 61

Jeremie Mitchell scored 20 points and five other players reached double figures as McNeese State routed Southwest 100-61 on Tuesday night.
First-half runs of 16-0 and 22-1 helped stake the Cowboys (8-4) to a 43-7 lead with less than five minutes remaining before halftime. The Cowboys led by at least 26 points the entire second half.
Dontae Cannon added 19 points, Stephan Martin had 13, C.J. Collins and P.J. Alawoya each had 12 and Daniel Richard 10 for the Cowboys, who have won six of their past seven games and improved to 8-0 at home.
McNeese State shot 53.2 percent (33 of 62) from the field and outscored Southwest in the paint 44-24. The Cowboys also shot well from the foul line, making 28 of 32 attempts (87.5 percent)
Southwest (6-6), an NAIA team from New Mexico, was led by Chris Avery with 17 points. Demetrius Evans added 16 for the Mustangs.
