McNeese needs OT to beat SE Louisiana 62-60 Southland opener

KATY, Texas (AP) Keelan Garrett scored the last five points of overtime Wednesday as No. 5 seed McNeese State rallied past eighth-seeded Southeastern Louisiana 62-60 in the opening game of the Southland Conference tournament.
Garrett had been 3 for 14, all 3-point attempts, when he tied the game at 60 on a 3-pointer with 1:39 left.
Kevin Hardy stole the ball from Dylon Maggio with 1:02 left and sent it ahead to Garrett for the go-ahead layup. Garrett finished with 14 points for the Cowboys (15-15), who face fourth-seeded Northwestern State on Thursday.
Southeastern (9-23) missed four field-goal attempts in the final minute.
The Lions led 48-41 with 8:21 left in the second half, but McNeese rallied to 55-all on Lance Potier's basket with 2:30 left which capped the scoring in regulation.
Cedric Jenkins and Onochie Ochie scored 25 of the Lions' 27 first-half points. Jenkins finished with 27 and Ochie with 12.
