Marshall 92, WVU Tech 69

Tirrell Baines scored 21 points to lead Marshall to a season-opening 92-69 win over West Virginia Tech on Friday night.
Baines was 9 of 13 from the field and 3 of 3 from the free throw line while Dago Pena scored 17 points, Johnny Thomas had 12, DeAndre Kane added 11 and Shaquille Johnson 10.
West Virginia Tech (2-0), an NAIA school which treated the game as an exhibition, led 13-9 with 14:57 left in the first half as Marshall hit just three of its first nine shots.
The Thundering Herd used an 11-0 run over the next 5:05 to lead by seven and built the margin to 41-24 with 2:42 to go in the half.
The Golden Bears cut the lead to 45-41 on a Roi Buchbinder dunk with 18:47 left, then the Thundering Herd pulled away with a 7-0 spurt.
Marshall led by as many as 26 and outrebounded West Virginia Tech 50-37.
Donald Robinson led West Virginia Tech with 23 points.
