Maine too strong for NAIA foe Fisher 97-42

Xavier Pollard scored 14 points, leading six Maine players in double figures as the Black Bears overpowered Fisher College, an NAIA team, 97-42 Thursday night.

Alasdair Fraser added 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Zarko Valjarevic had 13 points in 14 minutes off the bench for Maine (3-5). Justin Edwards and Till Gloger each scored 12and Stefan Micovic had 10. Freshman guard Shaun Lawton handed out eight assists.

The Black Bears shot 62.9 percent (39 of 62) from the field to 23.2 percent (16 of 69) for the Falcons (4-5). It was Maine's highest point total and largest victory margin since a 113-49 blowout of Maine-Machias, its last non-NCAA opponent, in its opener last season.

Ryan McCorkle and Sam Nwadike led Fisher with eight points each.
