Former Louisville Basketball player Gorgui Dieng is starting to show signs of greatness for the Timberwolves this season.

Recap:

Gorgui Dieng opened up the 2016 season a few days ago against the Memphis Grizzlies and came out on fire. The former Louisville basketball-product was the only player on the Timberwolves to get a double-double, as he finished the night with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

He dominated the glass for the T’Wolves, however Minnesota was not able to come out with a victory in Memphis.

The Timberwolves moved on to play the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night in a match-up against another great center in former Kentucky Wildcat DeMarcus Cousins.

Final Score and Stat Line:

1 2 3 4 T
Timberwolves 34 31 12 26 103
Kings 25 29 31 21 106

Gorgui Dieng: 35 minutes, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 14 points

Reaction:

This was the T’Wolves second close loss in a row. It also didn’t help that both of their 2016 losses have come on the road. However, they will go back home to play the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Gorgui Dieng has come out of the gate on fire for Minnesota. They need him to dominate the boards and he has done that and more this season. For the second game in a row, Dieng has been the only player on the T’Wolves that has achieved a double-double.

Not to mention, he had a season-high 14 points last night against the Kings.

This is a very good sign for Minnesota and Dieng. He is showing that he has the ability to be productive, even against one of the best centers in the NBA (Cousins). The T’Wolves are still very young, but Dieng is showing his veteran ability to be the staple in Minnesota’s starting line-up.
