Olu Ashaolu scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help Louisiana Tech defeat Texas-Arlington 62-61 on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (9-4) led 57-47 with 3:28 left to play, but two 3-pointers from LaMarcus Reed capped an 11-2 run that pulled the Mavericks to within one, 59-58, with 1:36 to go.

Ashaolu converted 3 of 4 from the free-throw line in the final 20 seconds to push Louisiana Tech's lead to 62-58 with seven seconds left.

Louisiana Tech scored the first 20 points of the game and led 36-26 at halftime. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 42-26 after two 3s from Lonnie Smith early in the second half.

DeAndre Brown led the Bulldogs with 15 points, while Smith and Kenyon McNeaill added 11 apiece.

Darius Richardson scored 15 to lead the Mavericks (5-4), who were outrebounded 36-26 and have lost three straight after starting 5-1.
