Fred Brown tied his career high with 25 points and Louisiana-Monroe won its first road game of the season 67-65 over South Alabama on Saturday night.

The Warhawks led by 10 midway through the first half but the Jaguars finished on a 21-8 run to lead 40-37 at halftime.

Neither team led by more than three points in the final 15 minutes as there were seven ties and 12 lead changes. Brown broke a 63-63 tie with a 3-pointer with 2 minutes remaining for a 66-63 lead.

A basket by Martino Brock pulled the Jaguars to within 66-65 with 1:30 to play, then Tommie Sykes made a free throw at 1:05 for the game's final point.

Gilbert Lawrence added 14 points, and Sykes had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Warhawks (6-13, 1-4 Sun Belt Conference), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Augustine Rubit scored 23 points and Brock added 17 points for the Jaguars (7-9, 1-4).
