Donovan Morris scored 15 points off the bench and Long Beach State beat Cal Poly 63-60 on Thursday. Long Beach State's largest lead of the game was seven points midway through the second half, but it overcame a brief two-point deficit in the final minutes and avoided a potential game-tying 3-pointer when it fouled Chaz Thomas before the shot on Cal Poly's final possession. Thomas missed both free throws. The 49ers (15-13, 10-5 Big West) led 32-31 at halftime and Cal Poly kept it close the rest of the way. Long Beach State took the lead permanently at 55-54 when Stephan Gilling made a 3-pointer with 3:36 left, and extended the lead to four points with 12 seconds left. Titus Shelton led the Mustangs (7-20, 3-12) with 15 points and Shawn Lewis added 14.
