Liberty 91, Montreat 73

Jesse Sanders handed out an arena-record 16 assists and his younger brother, John Caleb Sanders, scored 20 points as Liberty coasted to a 91-73 victory over Montreat College on Tuesday night.
Jesse Sanders, who came in averaging 7.8 assists, third best in Division I, also grabbed seven rebounds for the Flames (5-8). He is the only Division I player averaging more than seven assists and rebounds.
Liberty closed the first half with an 11-2 run over the final 3:02 to lead 41-27 at halftime. John Caleb Sanders scored five points and assisted on a dunk by Tavares Speaks during that run, and Jesse Sanders assisted on dunks by Andrew Smith and Antwan Burrus.
Burrus finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for Liberty, which has won three straight.
Tyler Buff scored 16 points and Terrell Mosley 14 for the Cavaliers, an NAIA team that counted the game as an exhibition.
