Leissner, Smith lift New Hampshire over Lowell 67-64 in OT

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) Tanner Leissner scored 18 points and Jaleen Smith added 17, including two free throws with 13 seconds left in overtime, to lift New Hampshire to a 67-64 win over Massachusetts-Lowell on Monday.

Smith's free throws came after Matt Harris drilled a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to pull Lowell within one. Harris then missed a 3 with three seconds left and Leissner grabbed the rebound.

The Wildcats (10-9, 3-2 American East) made 16 of 25 free throws while the River Hawks (9-10, 3-3), who were 9 of 19 from 3-point range, were 9 of 18 at the line.

Jahad Thomas, who led Lowell with 19 points and 13 rebounds, scored with eight seconds left in regulation after grabbing an offensive rebound to force overtime.

Leissner made a layup and then got a steal he converted into a 3-pointer that gave New Hampshire a 57-55 lead with 24 seconds left.
