Lehigh edges UMBC with 58-55 win

BALTIMORE (AP) Tim Kempton scored 12 points, hauled in 11 rebounds and fueled a comeback run late in the second half to help Lehigh to a 58-55 win over Maryland-Baltimore County on Sunday.

Trailing 52-46 with 8:46 to go, Lehigh (6-5) got a bucket from Kempton to spark the winning 8-0 run. After a 3-pointer from Austin Price and a free throw from Kempton, Kahron Ross sank the go-ahead layup to make it 54-52. Kempton followed it up with another layup to pad the margin with 59 seconds left.

Wayne Sparrow, who finished with 24 points, hit a 3 at the other end to pull UMBC (2-10) to within a point but the Mountain Hawks got a pair of free throws from Ross with 5 seconds left and a steal by Price to cement the win.

Justin Goldsborough scored 14 points and also had 11 rebounds for Lehigh.
