Lamb scores 23 as No. 4 UConn routs CW Post 91-61

Jeremy Lamb scored 23 points to lead defending national champion Connecticut to a 91-61 win over Division II C.W. Post in an exhibition Sunday.

Shabazz Napier added 14 points for the No. 4 Huskies and handed out 13 assists, giving him 28 in two preseason games, and freshman center Andre Drummond had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

UConn will begin regular season play Friday night when it hosts Columbia.

Vaughn Allen scored 14 points to lead the Pioneers.

C.W. Post hit only three of its first 26 shots, including all 11 attempts from three-point range. UConn, meanwhile, made 13 of its first 17 shots to quickly pull away.

The Pioneers trailed by seven points midway through the first half when a 25-1 run by the Huskies put it away. Brendan Allen hit a 3-pointer to cap the spurt and put UConn ahead 42-11.

UConn is 43-6 in exhibitions under coach Jim Calhoun.
