Lamar races past Nicholls St, 75-62

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) Anthony Holliday scored 23 points and added four assists to lead Lamar to a 75-62 come from behind win over Nicholls State on Saturday night.

Kevin Booze and Donovan Ross each finished with 14 points for the Cardinals (7-6, 1-0 Southland Conference). Tyran de Lattibeaudiere added nine points for Lamar, whose defense was stout all evening, holding the Colonels to 38 percent shooting and 4 of 25 from 3-point range.

After trailing 31-23 at the half Lamar stormed back in the second stanza, outscoring Nicholls State 52-31. Lamar took the lead for good on a Holliday layup midway through the period and eventually built it as high as 16.

Amin Torres led Nicholls State with 19 points and five assists. Sam McBeath added 10 points for the Colonels (3-8, 0-1), who were plagued by 19 turnovers and a minus-13 disadvantage in the rebounding battle.
