Dan Trist scored 16 points, and Lafayette overcame a 15-point, second-half deficit to beat St. Francis (Pa.) 61-58 on Tuesday night.

Tony Johnson had 12 points for Lafayette (3-7), which made 21 of 24 free throws, including four by Joey Ptasinski down the stretch.

Umar Shannon had 19 points and Stephon Whyatt 12 for St. Francis (0-7), which shot six free-throws in the game.

St. Francis led 41-26 on 3-pointers from Shannon and Whyatt and Ronnie Drinnon's layup 2:10 into the second half.

The Leopards finally went in front 55-53 on Seth Hinrichs' three-point play with 2:18 left. Whyatt's 3-pointer took it back for St. Francis at 56-55, but Ptasinski's two free throws made it 57-56 for the Leopards at 1:35.

Shannon missed a jumper, got the rebound and missed a 3-pointer, and Ptasinski grabbed the rebound and made two free-throws with 14 seconds left for a 59-56 advantage.
