A photo of Terrence Jones' dislocated finger made its rounds through the Kentucky locker room.
Jones is grimacing in pain in the photo with his left pinky bent at almost a right angle away from his shooting hand.
''Yeah, I've seen it,'' Kentucky guard Darius Miller said Monday. ''It's pretty nasty.''
Jones has missed practice Sunday and Monday, but coach John Calipari would not rule out his 6-foot-9 forward for the third-ranked Wildcats (9-1) against Samford on Tuesday night.
''I don't know yet. We'll see,'' the coach said. ''I don't expect him to start if he doesn't practice today, but I don't know.''
Jones dislocated his left-pinky finger in Saturday's 87-62 win over Chattanooga early in the game, and tried to return several times before exiting for good early in the second half.
''He's still swollen and black and blue,'' Calipari said. ''The doctor said he thought he may be able to practice today, but he looked at and said, `I'd keep him out another day.'''
Calipari went out of his way to compliment Jones' play following his performance in a victory over North Carolina on Dec. 3 with 14 points and seven rebounds to cap double-figure performances in six of Kentucky's first eight games.
But the SEC preseason player of the year has followed it up with a rough stretch in a lull in Kentucky's schedule because of final exams that featured just one game over a 13-day span.
He scored four points and grabbed one rebound while committing six turnovers in a loss to Indiana on Dec. 10 that had him on the bench late, then missed all three of his shots against the Mocs after injuring the finger in the opening minutes of the game.
Jones hasn't spoken to reporters since before the Indiana game. His only recent comments have come on Twitter.
The day after the loss to the Hoosiers, he posted that his ''haters'' could have a night to criticize him for his poor play, but that there were still a lot of games remaining this season.
''I don't forget nothing,'' he wrote.
But minutes into his next game, he hurt the finger.
''It'll take time,'' Calipari said of the injury. ''He'll be fine.''
