Hofstra was game early, aggressively driving the lane and crashing the boards for offensive put backs, trailing the No. 6 ranked Wildcats by only three points with around four minutes to play in the opening half. But Kentucky finally found its rhythm, going on a 12-0 run to close out the first half with a 15 point lead, then staying hot to open the second half, extending the run to 26-3 to open up the margin.
In the end, the Cats were able to settle in defensively, get out in transition, and dominate points in the paint, cruising to a 23-point win. De’Aaron Fox added 15 points, while Bam Adebayo scored 14 points, to go with seven rebounds. Derek Wills had eight rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot, to go with his eight points. Mychal Mulder again gave good minutes off the bench, grabbing five rebounds to go with his 6 points.

Kentucky returns home to begin coach John Calipari’s favorite time of the year, “Camp Cal,” where the Cats will be free of school, allowing for two to three practices per day, the grueling mid-season stretch where the team has made great strides in past seasons. And they’ll need it, as the Cats face No. 7 North Carolina next Saturday, followed by No. 11 Louisville in the Yum! Center Dec. 21.
