Kent St. 73, Buffalo 62

Rodriquez Sherman scored 18 points, leading top-seeded Kent State to a 73-62 victory over Buffalo in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament on Thursday night.
Justin Greene added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Flashes (22-10), who won the regular-season title for the second straight season.
Javon McCrea led eighth-seeded Buffalo (18-13) with 28 points and 13 rebounds.
Kent State led 41-25 at halftime after holding Buffalo to 10-of-27 shooting from the field. The Golden Flashes were still ahead 52-38 with 12:28 to play before Buffalo got back in the game. The Bulls cut the deficit to 56-52 with 7:51 remaining before Kent State regained control.
Greene's three-point play built the lead back to 64-54 with 3:45 left.
Michael Porrini had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Kent State, which won the game despite making only 26 of 62 from the field and 3 of 17 3-pointers. The Golden Flashes made 18 of 31 from the foul line.
McCrea was the only Buffalo player in double figures. Bryan Mulkey scored eight points and Zach Filzen added seven for the Bulls, who made 23 of 54 shots.
