Kennesaw State 82, Georgia Southwestern 62

Markeith Cummings scored 24 points and Kennesaw State pulled away from Georgia Southwestern for an 82-62 win Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Aaron Anderson added 19 points for the Owls, who have won three straight season openers. Cummings (8 of 14) and Anderson (9 of 12) combined to make 17 of 26 field goal attempts. Kennesaw State made 29 of 57 shots from the field (50.9 percent).
The Owls led 40-28 and were never threatened in the second half.
Georgia Southwestern, an NCAA Division II school, was hurt by 22 turnovers. The Hurricanes held their own on the boards, matching the Owls with 32 rebounds. The Hurricanes also shot well, making 20 of 46 field goal attempts (43.6 percent).
Matt Shaw led the Hurricanes with 17 points and Phillip Brown added 12.
