Russell Powell scored a career-high 15 points and Ayron Hardy had his first career double-double to lead Jacksonville past Samford 60-49 on Wednesday night.

Hardy had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Dolphins (3-1), who scored 20 points on Samford's 21 turnovers.

Jacksonville won despite going 17 of 30 from the free throw line (56.7 percent), including 15 of 28 in the second half (53.6 percent).

Leading 26-25 at halftime, Jacksonville opened the second half on an 11-2 run, which was capped by Travis Cohn's 3-pointer, for a 37-27 lead with 14:35 left.

Samford cut the margin to 38-35, but the Dolphins answered with an 11-4 stretch and led the rest of the way.

Cohn finished with 10 points.

Kaylin Johnson led Samford (3-3) with 15 points and Gregg Wooten added 13 points.

The Bulldogs shot 14.3 percent from the 3-point line (2 for 14) in the second half.
