Glen Rice Jr., Georgia Tech's leading returning scorer, has been suspended for the season's first three games for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
The junior forward's suspension was announced before Friday night's opening game against Florida A&M, coach Brian Gregory's debut with the Yellow Jackets.
Rice, the son of the former Michigan and 15-year NBA star Glen Rice, started 23 games last season, averaging 12.8 points per game. The elder Rice played on Michigan's 1989 national championship team and the Los Angeles Lakers' 2000 NBA championship team.
The younger Rice had six games with 20 or more points last season. Gregory, the former Dayton coach, had not announced if the 6-foot-5 Rice would have started against Florida A&M.
