Kyle Smyth made eight 3-pointers and Jermel Jenkins added seven as Iona set a school record with 18 long-range shots in an 86-65 win over Albany (N.Y.) on Tuesday night.

Smyth and Jenkins both broke the previous single-game 3-point mark, with Smyth being the current owner.

The Gaels (2-3) shot 60 percent from long range (18 of 30) with 12 coming in the first half, nearly meeting the then school record of 13 set against Rider on Jan. 11, 2009.

Smyth scored 26 of his 29 points in the first half as Iona took a 47-34 lead into the break. Jenkins finished with 21 points on 7-of-11 3-point shooting.

Scott Machado had 14 points and a career-high 15 assists and Alejo Rodriguez had 10 rebounds for the Gaels.

Logan Aronhalt led the Great Danes (1-4) with 25 points. Tim Ambrose added 18 for Albany, which shot 49 percent from the field (24 of 49).
