Josh Mayo scored a game-high 25 points, including 17 in the second half, to lead Illinois-Chicago in a 74-67 win over Southern Illinois Saturday night. The game was part of the ESPN BracketBusters series. Two other Illinois-Chicago (14-14) players were in the double digits. Robo Kreps, who was 4-of-4 from the free throw line had 20 points and Scott VanderMeer grabbed nine rebounds and chipped in 12 points for the Flames. Illinois-Chicago led 35-24 at the half. The Flames, who led by as many as 15 points in the second half, outscored Southern Illinois from the 3-point line. Illinois-Chicago (11-17) had 11-of-24 3-pointers, shooting nearly 46 percent overall, compared with almost 30 percent, or 8-of-27 for the Salukis. Kevin Dillard had 17 points and eight assists, Carlton Fay had 16 points and six rebounds and Ryan Hare added 12 points for the Salukis.
