Joe Latas scored 19 points, including a basket with 1 second remaining in overtime, to give Houston Baptist a 76-74 victory over Bethune-Cookman Monday night.
Latas missed a shot with 5 seconds left, and after a Dustin Hobaugh miss, Latos grabbed his 14th rebound and put it back in for the Huskies (1-1).
Kevin Dukes' two free throws with 1:27 to go tied the game for Bethune-Cookman (0-2). Dukes had a game-high 24 points for the Wildcats, including 8 for 8 from the foul line.
Tyler Russell and Marcus Davis had 14 points each for Houston Baptist. Russell's jumper with 2 seconds left in regulation tied it at 67.
Anthony Breeze had 13 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots for the Wildcats. Neither team led by more than seven points in the game.
