Vander Joaquim had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Zane Johnson added 19 points as Hawaii defeated UC Davis 74-61 on Sunday night.

The Rainbow Warriors (3-4) switched to a zone defense and went on a 21-2 run for a 72-58 lead with 1:04 remaining. Johnson scored six points and Bobby Miles added five during the rally.

Eddie Miller scored 16 points and Tyler Les added 11 for UC Davis (1-8).

Hawaii held a 44-29 advantage in rebounds and outscored the Aggies 42-20 in the paint. Miah Ostrowski, in his first game since the end of the football season, had eight assists.

UC Davis shot just 9 of 35 from the floor in the second half, after going 16 of 35 before intermission. Hawaii finished 27 of 48 from the field.

The first half had seven ties and seven lead changes, with UC Davis taking a 39-34 lead at the break.
