Javonte Maynor and Dante Curry scored 15 points apiece to lead Georgia State to an 80-70 victory over Troy on Friday night.

The Panthers (1-1) led 37-29 at halftime thanks to 7-of-15 (46.7 percent) shooting from 3-point range and a 14-5 run to end the first half. Georgia State also benefited from 26 bench points in the first half compared to five for the Trojans.

Jihad Ali and Marques Johnson scored 10 points apiece for the Panthers. Curry shot 5 of 8 from 3-point range, while Maynor was 4 for 8 from behind the arc.

Levan Patsatsia led the Trojans (1-2) with a game-high 22 points, but it wasn't enough as Troy shot 21 for 53 (39.6 percent) from the field as a team and 19 of 37 (51.4 percent) from the free-throw line.

The Panthers led by as many as 18 points, 49-31, with 15:09 remaining in the game.

Will Weathers added 14 points for the Trojans in the loss.
