Jihad Ali scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Georgia State over Virginia Commonwealth 55-53 Wednesday night, to extend its record streak.
The Panthers (11-3, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association) led 53-44 with 2:14 remaining, and held off VCU's rally, including a missed 3-pointer by Darius Theus with 9 seconds left to win their school-record 11th straight.
The Panthers held the Rams (11-4, 2-1) to 27.1 percent shooting (16 of 59), marking the sixth lowest shooting percentage for an opponent against Georgia State since 1999.
Devonta White added 14 rebounds for the Panthers, who have held opponents to 51 points per game during the streak.
Troy Daniels was the only VCU player in double figures with 15 points. Juvonte Reddic and Bradford Burgess had 10 rebounds each for the Rams, who snapped an eight game winning streak.
VCU tallied just seven assists, while turning it over 10 times.
