Eric Ferguson scored 21 points and grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds to help rally Georgia Southern to a 69-63 Southern Conference victory over Elon on Thursday night.

The Eagles (5-8, 3-0), who had lost their past 26 road games, trailed 41-27 with 16:07 remaining.

Led by Ben Drayton and Ferguson, Georgia Southern outscored the Phoenix (7-6, 2-1) 29-14 over the next 11:35.

Drayton, who scored 11 of his 17 points during the run, cut Elon's lead to 55-54 with consecutive baskets. Ferguson's jumper gave Georgia Southern a 56-55 lead with 4:32 remaining.

Two free throws apiece by Jelani Hewitt and Ferguson in the final minute put the game away for the Eagles.

Georgia Southern shot 59.3 percent (16 of 27) in the second half after shooting 23.5 percent (8 of 34) in the first.

Jack Isenbarger scored 17 points, Lucas Troutman 16 and Austin Hamilton 14 to lead Elon.
