George Washington holds off Seton Hall 72-64

WASHINGTON (AP) Tyler Cavanaugh and Joe McDonald scored 16 points each and George Washington held on Wednesday night after leading the entire second half to beat Seton Hall 72-64.

The Colonials (7-1) led 58-49 midway through the second half before Seton Hall pulled within three on Isaiah Whitehead's jumper with 2:44 left. Paul Jorgensen answered with a 3-pointer to make it 65-59, and George Washington made 7 of 8 free throws to snap the Pirates' three-game winning streak.

Khadeen Carrington had a career-high 21 points to lead Seton Hall (5-2), which entered the game with consecutive wins over SEC opponents, Ole Miss and Georgia.

George Washington took the lead for good at 29-27 on Cavanaugh's 3 with 3:42 left in the first half. The Colonials bounced back from their only loss of the season to No. 17 Cincinnati in the Barclays Center Classic title game on Saturday.
