Tony Taylor scored 23 points to lead George Washington to a 79-59 win over Marist on Wednesday night in the second round of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

The victory was the 150th for coach Karl Hobbs, all with the Colonials.

Chris Fitzgerald added 16 points for George Washington (1-1) in his first college game. Lasan Kromah, the Colonials' leading returning scorer, missed his second game with a foot sprain.

George Washington jumped out to a 12-2 lead over the Red Foxes (0-2) in the first matchup between the two teams.

Marist closed to 22-19, but the Colonials used an 8-0 spurt, including 3-pointers by Fitzgerald and Tim Johnson, to take an 11-point lead.

George Washington led 43-28 at halftime and by as many as 24 in the second half. The Colonials shot 10 for 24 from 3-point range.

Candon Rusin led the Red Foxes with 15 points and Anell Alexis had 13.
