Freeman guides Valparaiso past Concordia ILL 121-65

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Javon Freeman tossed in 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor to lead six players in double figures and added four assists and three steals to propel Valparaiso to a lop-sided 121-65 victory over Division III-member Concordia (Illinois) on Tuesday night.

Ryan Fazekas and Derrik Smits added 18 points apiece for the Crusaders, who knocked down 43 of 66 shots from the floor (65 percent), including 7 of 18 from 3-point range (39 percent). Markus Golder scored 16, while Daniel Sackey and Bakari Evelyn added 13 and 12, respectively. Fazekas, Smits and John Kiser each grabbed seven rebounds as the Crusaders controlled the boards 48-33.

Jalen Meeks topped the Cougars with 17 points, while Mitch Pelissier and Landen Gladney both scored 12. Concordia connected on just 23 of 73 shots from the floor (31.5 percent).

Valparaiso blocked six shots and only turned the ball over 10 times. The Crusaders led 63-31 at halftime.
