Walter Offutt, a 6-foot-3 guard who left Ohio State's team in November, has transferred a little over an hour away to Division I Wright State.

Offutt, an Indianapolis native, will become eligible to play for the Raiders after the end of the fall quarter next school year. He will have 2 1/2 seasons of eligibility remaining at that point.

A prized recruit out of Warren Central High School before signing with the Buckeyes, Offutt played sparingly in 21 games last season, averaging less than a point. He had 14 points in two games this season before leaving coach Thad Matta's program.

Wright State, which confirmed Offutt had transferred Sunday, said Offutt will practice with the team but will not be permitted to travel, according to NCAA rules.
