Florida Gulf Coast 62, Mercer 58

Sherwood Brown scored 14 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 35 seconds left, as Florida Gulf Coast knocked off second-seeded Mercer 62-58 Friday night in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament.
The Eagles (15-16), who will play top-seeded Belmont in Saturday night's final, became the third straight No. 6 seed to advance to the championship game.
Florida Gulf Coast is also only the sixth team in the tournament's 33-year history to make the final in its first conference postseason appearance.
The Eagles led by seven in the first half, but the Bears tied it at 30 at the break.
Mercer (22-11), which beat Florida Gulf Coast twice earlier this season, pulled ahead at 35-32 and held the lead until Brett Comer's free throw tied it at 57 with 1:35 left. The Eagles hit 5 of 6 free throws to prevail.
Jakob Gollon's 17 points led the Bears.
