Kamil Svrdlik scored 24 points to lead a hot-shooting Fairleigh Dickinson team to a 78-68 win over Bryant in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams on Thursday night.

The Knights (2-3) shot 27 for 50 from the floor (54 percent) and posted a 46-18 scoring edge in the paint. Fairleigh Dicksinson outrebounded the Bulldogs 38-27.

Terence Grier scored 18 points and Mike Scott added 17 for the Knights. Svrdlik was 11 of 14 from the floor (78.6 percent).

The Bulldogs (1-6) stayed in the game thanks to 12-for-27 shooting from 3-point range (44.4 percent) compared to just 2 of 9 for Fairleigh Dickinson.

Scott dished out a game-high eight assists and shot 11 for 12 from the free-throw line as the Knights made 22 of 31 free throws as a team (71 percent).

Cecil Gresham shot 6 of 14 from 3-point range and scored 28 points in the loss for Bryant.
