Denver Holmes hit a 3-pointer with 17.7 seconds remaining in overtime and Evansville rallied to beat Butler 71-68 Saturday.
Kenneth Harris led scored 17 points, Colt Ryan had 14 and Holmes 10 for the Purple Aces (3-2), who trailed by nine in the second half.
Sheldon Mack had three free throws on the ensuing possession for the Bulldogs (3-2) after being fouled by Holmes with 7.2 seconds left in OT, but he only made the one. Harris then made 1 of 2 free throws with 6 seconds left.
Mack's 3-pointer from 25 feet missed as time ran out.

Harris scored 11 points after halftime, including nine consecutive Evansville points during a momentum-turning second-half run.
Matt Howard led Butler with 19 points and Mack had 13.
