English scores 32, lifts Iona over Canisius 101-91

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) A.J. English scored a career-high 32 points and Iona scored 24 points in the last five minutes to pull away and defeat Canisius 101-91 on Sunday.
English hit a 3-pointer to give Iona an 81-75 lead with 5:10 to play, sparking a 24-16 run to end the game. English was 10 of 17 from the field, made four 3-pointers and had six assists. David Laury scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Gaels, who have won seven straight. Isaiah Williams added 18 points.
The win keeps Iona (15-8, 12-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) atop the conference standings, and avenges its last loss--to Canisius 85-83 on Jan 17. Canisius (16-9, 10-4) remains tied with Manhattan for second place.
Chris Perez scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half for Canisius. Billy Baron added 24 points and dished out six assists.
