Eastern Kentucky beats Tennessee Tech 74-67

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) Tarius Johnson and Glenn Cosey scored 20 points each on Thursday night to lead Eastern Kentucky past Tennessee Tech 74-67.

EKU (20-9, 10-5) led 63-61 with 3 minutes to go and went on an 11-3 run to pull away and clinch a bye in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.

Tennessee Tech (15-15, 8-7) went ahead 55-49 on Josiah Moore's jumper with 8 minutes to go, but the Colonels answered with a 11-2 run, taking the lead for good at 59-57 on Eric Stutz's three-point play with 5:06 left.

The Golden Eagles out-rebounded EKU 29-20, but had 15 turnovers compared to only seven for the Colonels.

Jeremiah Samarrippas had 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting with seven assists and three 3-pointers for Tennessee Tech.

Moore had 12 points for the Golden Eagles with Javon McKay and Dennis Ogbe adding 10 points each.
