Justin Stommes scored 17 points and Eastern Kentucky easily defeated Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 70-50 Tuesday night.
Joshua Jones scored 14 points, Spencer Perrin scored 12 and Jaron Jones had 10 for the Colonels (10-9). Josh Daniel grabbed 13 rebounds as Eastern Kentucky held a 36-25 edge on the boards. The Colonels outscored the Cougars 34-14 in the paint.
The Colonels led 30-26 at the half, but shot 60 percent in the second half to pull away. Stommes scored all seven points in a run that gave Eastern Kentucky a 41-30 lead. The visitors led by as many as 22 points.
Cornelius Chatt scored 13 points to lead the Cougars (5-15).
