Star freshman forward Jayson Tatum suffered an unspecified foot injury during a recent Duke Basketball practice.

The Blue Devils celebrated the upcoming season with Countdown to Craziness over the weekend, but recently received some unfortunate news as the regular season approaches. ESPN’s Seth Greenburg recently reported that freshman forward Jayson Tatum went down with a foot injury during a practice.

Jayson Tatum is expected to play a big role for the team this year as a versatile wing. He was a 5-star and top-five ranked recruit coming into Duke and was named the national Gatorade Athlete of the Year. Tatum starred in the Countdown to Craziness scrimmage leading the game in scoring with 18 points. Duke fans should be wary of foot injuries sustained by Blue Devils during practice after redshirt senior forward Amile Jefferson suffered a season-ending foot fracture during a practice last December.

The Blue Devils will already be without freshman Harry Giles who will miss the start of the season after undergoing a minor surgery on his knee. Right now we don’t know much about the extent of Tatum’s injury, other than it “didn’t look good“, but we hope he recovers soon and will keep you updated on the status of his injury as the first exhibition game approaches against Virginia State this Friday.
