CS Northridge rolls over Bethesda 89-61

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) Stephen Maxwell made 8 of 12 from the floor for 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Cal State Northridge to an 89-61 win over Bethesda Tuesday night as the Matadors stopped their eight-game skid.

Maxwell had a double-double at the half, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Aaron Parks made 6 of 9 field goals for 16 points, Devonte Elliott was 6 of 11 from the floor for 15, Stephan Hicks added 13 and Ajon Efferson chipped in 11 for CSUN (7-21).

CSUN jumped out to a 20-3 lead, was up 43-26 at the break and led 74-44 midway in the second half. The Flames, of the National Christian College Athletic Association, never challenged.

The Matadors made 33 of 68 field goal attempts while limiting Bethesda to 20-of-61 shooting (32.8 percent).

Michael Walker led Bethesda with 14 and Daniel Chavez and Alex Reynolds chipped in 12 apiece.
