Ian Hosford snagged a double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, to help Cal State Monterey Bay take a 50-47 victory over Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on Thursday night.
Davion Berry added 12 points as the Division II Otters won their season opener.
The Mustangs (1-1) were up 30-22 at halftime but shot just 19 percent in the second half. They missed their last 13 shots from the floor, allowing the Otters to come back from a 44-39 deficit with about 10 minutes left.
Cal Poly's David Hanson led the game in scoring with 18 points while Will Donahue picked up a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
