Stephon Carter scored 18 points and drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Cal State Bakersfield defeated Cal State Northridge 70-69 on Saturday night.
Alex Johnson had 11 points and Rashad Savage nine points and 13 rebounds for the Roadrunners (7-5).
Lenny Daniel had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Matadors (3-7), but with his team leading 68-67, he was 1 of 4 from the free-throw line in the final 19 seconds.
Daniel, a 49-percent free-throw shooter entering the game, missed his last two with 8 seconds left. After a timeout, Carter took an inbounds pass, drove to the middle of the court and pulled up for the game-winner.

Rashaun McLemore led Northridge with 20 points.
