Cornell beats Lafayette 85-67

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) Robert Hatter scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds, leading Cornell to an 85-67 win over Lafayette on Saturday.

Hatter - who has averaged over 18 points a game this season - did it with 10-of-16 shooting from the field including three from distance for the Big Red (5-4). Darryl Smith scored 16 points with five rebounds and four steals and David Onuorah and Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof added 11 points apiece.

Hatter sank a pair of 3-pointers, a dunk and a jumper in less than a minute as part of a 13-4 surge midway through the first period that helped Cornell to a 43-33 lead at halftime. Lafayette never came closer than 10 points after that.

The Big Red averaged 52.3 percent shooting from the field, 63.2 percent from the line and benefited from 20 Lafayette turnovers including 14 Cornell steals.

Nick Linder led the Leopards (2-6) with 19 points and nine assists.
