Adam Nigon hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining and Colorado State defeated Appalachian State 82-79 in the Cancun Governor's Cup on Wednesday night.

Travis Franklin and Andy Ogide led the Rams (6-3) with 21 points apiece. Ogide added 13 rebounds. Nigon had 15 points, making 5 of 9 from 3-point range, and Wes Eikmeier had 13.

The score was tied 15 times and the Mountaineers overcame a 75-69 deficit with 5:22 to play. A layup by the Mountaineers' Omar Carter forced the final tie at 79 with 18 seconds to play.

The Rams dominated close to the basket, outscoring the Mountaineers in the paint 42-24 and outrebounding them 39-29. Both teams shot well, with Colorado State making 49.2 percent (31 of 63) from the field and Appalachian State hitting 50 percent (29 of 58).

Donald Sims scored 24 points, Carter added 20 and Jeremi Booth 12 for the Mountaineers (4-5).
