Coastal Carolina tops Longwood, 76-70, to go 3-0

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) Warren Gillis and Shivaughn Wiggins both scored 15 points as Coastal Carolina held off Longwood, 76-70 for a 3-0 start to the Big South Conference season Thursday night.

The Chanticleers built a 34-26 lead in the first half and Badou Diagne and Elijah Wilson helped push it to as many as 12 points in the second half by knocking down 3-pointers.

Wiggins was 9 of 10 from the free throw line en route to his 15 point effort and Diagne added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Coastal Carolina (12-3, 3-0 Big South).

As a team, Coastal Carolina was 25 of 54 from the field, hitting 7 of 19 from distance, and converted 19 of 26 from the free throw line.

Lotanna Nwogbo was 10 of 14 from the field to lead Longwood (5-11, 1-2) with 23 points. Quincy Taylor added 14 points and Leron Fisher added another 12.
